Journey with Elia

Journey with Elia (2017)

The world-renowned cinema master and author, the late Elia Kazan, neither felt like an American nor a Greek, but always referred to himself as an Anatolian. He said, what convinced many actors to work with him was, what he called, his irresistible "Anatolian smile".

However, this 'Anatolian Smile' was not enough to save him from being labeled as "a collaborator" during the McCarthy interrogations--a label which he had to carry all his life.

After receiving his third Oscar, Kazan, together with his friend, Omer Zulfu Livaneli, took to the roads of Kayseri, his hometown, like a child running to his mother's womb or like a Greek tragic hero searching for his Ithaka to escape his past and purify his soul.

You will experience this unusual journey by Livaneli's magical words and by M.K. Perker's beautiful drawings.

Disquiet* (2017)

Mercy is not an ointment for cruelty.

Disquiet transports the reader to the contemporary Middle East with a love story set against the recent atrocities committed by ISIS against the Yazidi people. Both a meditation on the nature of being human and an empathetic, probing look at the past and present reality of these lands of the Mesopotamian heritage, Disquiet is the groundbreaking first novel to tell of the experiences of the Yazidis fleeing ISIS to take refuge in Turkey.

Through the stories of Hussein from Mardin and the Yazidi girl, Meleknaz from Iraq, Disquiet gives a voice to the peoples, faiths, histories, and stories that have swept through this region over centuries.
