A Cultural Center for Zülfü Livaneli

The municipality of Cankaya is preparing to open a cultural center named after Zulfu Livaneli, one of the most prominent figures in Turkey’s cultural, art, and political scenes.

The leader of the People’s Republican Party (CHP), Kemal Kilicdaroglu, and Mr. Livaneli himself, will be attending the opening ceremony, which will take place on September 16th, 2017. The mayor of Cankaya, Alper Tasdelen, will be hosting the event.

A concert will be held during the ceremony, which will be performed by the cellist, Erman Imayhan, and the pianist, Henning Shmidt.

The Livaneli Cultural Center will operate as an arts and letters academy, providing several film, music, art, and literature workshops to students. The Center will be hosting an exhibition consisting of Livaneli’s albums, books, photos, and some personal belongings. The exhibition can be seen until October 25th, 2017.

The Cankaya Municipality named the Cultural Center’s several halls after some of Livaneli’s books: The grand hall, which can host 150 people, was named ‘Leyla’s House’ and the gallery was named ‘Bliss’.

The Livaneli Cultural Center, which occupies 1100 square meters at the center of Cankaya, will be open to arts and letters, and artists at all times.
